Sister sizes to try

Tighter band 30DD Tighter band, similar cup volume
Looser band 34C Looser band, similar cup volume
How this result was estimated: band 32, cup D, based on a 4 in bust-to-band difference. Treat this as a fitting starting point because brands and bra shapes can fit differently.

Use the result as a starting point

Bra sizing is not perfectly standardized between brands and styles. Try the calculated size first, then use the sister-size suggestions if the band or cups need adjustment.

Where to measure bust and underbust

Use the two guide lines below to place the measuring tape consistently before entering your measurements.

1

Fullest bust

Keep the tape level around the fullest point. It should touch the body without flattening or compressing the tissue.

2

Underbust

Measure directly beneath the breast tissue. Keep the tape snug and horizontal around the rib cage.

3

Check the tape

Use a mirror or ask someone to confirm the tape is parallel to the floor, especially across your back.

How to measure for bra size

Take both measurements while standing naturally. A non-padded bra can help when measuring the fullest bust.

1

Measure your underbust

Wrap the tape snugly around your rib cage directly beneath the bust. Keep the tape horizontal and record the measurement.

2

Measure the fullest bust

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of the bust. Keep it level and comfortably loose enough that it does not compress the tissue.

3

Calculate and compare

Enter both measurements, select inches or centimeters, and use the recommended size plus international and sister-size equivalents as fitting starting points.

Equivalent sizes same band/cup index across common systems

International conversions are common equivalents, not a guarantee of identical fit. Brand grading, cup shape and band stretch can vary.

How the bra size estimate works

The calculator converts your measurements to inches, rounds the underbust to a practical even band size, and uses the difference between the fullest bust and band size to estimate the cup. International sizes are then shown as common equivalents. Because brands use different grading and shapes, treat the result and conversions as fitting starting points rather than guaranteed matches.

How to tell whether the fit is right

A useful fit usually has a level band that feels secure without digging in, cups that contain the breast tissue without spilling or gaping, and a center gore that sits comfortably where the bra design allows. If only the band feels wrong, try the sister-size options shown with your result before changing cup volume.

Bra cup size method

Cup difference = Fullest bust − Band size

About 1 inch of difference corresponds to an A cup, 2 inches to B, 3 inches to C, and so on. Cup lettering differs between sizing systems after D/DD.

Tips for a more useful measurement

  • ✓ Use a soft measuring tape and keep it level around your body.
  • ✓ Measure the underbust snugly directly beneath the breast tissue.
  • ✓ Measure the fullest part of the bust without compressing the tissue.
  • ✓ If you are between sizes, compare the sister sizes shown with your result.
  • ✓ Re-measure when your body changes or when a familiar size starts fitting differently.
